Nissan has issued a recall action for certain Pathfinder SUVs from the 1996-2004 model years and Infiniti QX4s from the 1997-2003 model years due to a possible corrosion problem that could lead to the loss of steering. Read more »
In the U.S. and Canada, the recall involves the 2004-2006MY Nissan Armada and Titan, 2005-2006MY Infiniti QX56, as well as the 2003-2006MY Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra models. Other models in the global recall list include the Cube, March/Micra and Tiida.
The Japanese automaker also noted that it will add two new models to the G range, with specific details to be announced in mid-August at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance , while Infiniti also reminded us that it will present the M Hybrid and a dedicated full-electric model in the very near future. For the Full Monty on all the changes, hit the break to read Infiniti's comprehensive press release.
"The look is clearly Infiniti with its signature Infiniti grille, broad shoulders and large greenhouse," says Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. "It's rugged, sophisticated and completely captivating." Well, we'll let you be the judge of that.
Wearing the manliest face Infiniti has ever put on an SUV while retaining the brand's design language, the new-for 2011 QX56 is visually much more blunt and regal, if that's possible.
To our knowledge, Infiniti has currently green-lighted two all-new models for production : it's own version of the new Nissan Patrol luxury SUV, the 2011 QX, and a fully-electric four-seat model that was announced by Nissan President and CEO, Carlos Ghosn, at last year's Tokyo Motor Show in October.
Then again it may be a different model altogether, one we have never heard of before from Infiniti officials. Unless the Japanese firm teases us with some new information and / or a picture, we'll have to wait until the Geneva Show opening on March 2 to find out.
However before you go and apply on the dedicated website, note that only residents of U.A.E., Saudi Arabia. Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qata are eligible to participate in the campaign.
We'll remind you that we first had the chance to see the 2010/2011 Patrol without any camouflage whatsoever in December 2008 through a series of photos that are believed to have been shot during an internal presentation.
Coincidentally, the same thing happened last September with the Nissan Patrol's more luxurious sibling, the 2011 Infiniti QX, which is scheduled to be introduced in North America sometime this year or early 2011.
It is expected that Nissan's Toyota Land Cruiser competitor will be offered with an updated engine range comprising of V6 and V8 petrol units as well as a six-cylinder turbo diesel.

In addition, Infiniti said that it will provide details on when it will reveal the all-new 2011 QX SUV that is believed to be based on the forthcoming 2010 Nissan Patrol, while the firm's senior executives will also talk about Infiniti's future hybrid and all-electric models.

We'll agree with our Jalopnik friends that the front-end styling of the new Infiniti QX including the blacked out windscreen columns and the side air-vents bring to mind the Kia Soul crossover...
There's no official information on Infiniti's extra-large luxury SUV that targets the likes of the Lexus LX, but U.S. buyers should expect a V8 option, quite possibly based on the 2011 Infiniti M's new 5.6-liter V8 which is said to deliver somewhere around 400 horsepower.
