Want a Ferrari 458? Why Not Take Two?

In Australia and indeed the world, Ferrari waiting lists are notoriously long. At one point the average wait time for a Ferrari 575M Maranello was as much as three years, as demand rapidly stripped out the brand’s relatively small production capacity. Whatever is a cashed up Ferrarista to do?

Well, you could just buy whatever’s available and drive that until your hot pink Ferrari 458 with the diamante-encrusted wheel arches and baby seal leather interior arrives. I mean, who cares about depreciation when you can lay down half a million on a factory fresh Ferrari? You’d be surprised how many Ferrari customers in Australia are doing this exact thing.

Novitec Tunes Ferrari's California and Creates a Sleeper, if That's Even Possible

Novitec's take on Ferrari's California goes something like this: one 4.3 liter V8 boosted by a supercharger system that ends up pumping output to 606 horsepower. That's a 166 horsepower increase thanks to a boost pressure of 0.4 bar, making the Novitec California good for a 60 mph sprint in 3.8 seconds.

Top speed comes in at 325 km/h or 202 mph, while torque grows from 485 Nm (358 lb-ft) to 603 Nm / 445 lb-ft.

Novitec Rosso Ferrari California with 500HP and Subtle Aero and Suspension Upgrades

Even the Ferrari California can't escape from the tuning claws of companies like Novitec Rosso that has revealed a comprehensive, yet subtle package for the hardtop roadster. The German tuners offerings include a tasty aero kit, suspension and engine modifications, new interior options and custom wheels.

Novitec Rosso starts under the hood, where it remaps the V8's ECU and adds a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with metal catalysts and a flap actuator. With the upgrade, the 4.3-liter V8 engine gains an extra 40HP and 33Nm of torque raising output to 500HP and 518Nm (382 lb-ft). In addition, the engine's redline has been increased to 8,300 rpm.

In the suspension department, the California receives a set of sport springs that lower the ride height by some 35 millimeters while the tuner has developed a hydraulic front lift system that raises the front of the car by some 40 millimeters at the push of a button in the interior to allow drivers to safely navigate parking garage ramps or speed bumps.

The package includes an aerodynamic kit comprising of a front spoiler, rocker panel mouldings, black side markers, a newly designed diffuser for the rear apron and a spoiler lip on the trunk lid. All aero-components are made from lightweight yet high-strength clear-coated carbon fiber.

The tasty exterior upgrades are rounded off by a new set of 21-inch (front) and 22-inch (rear) alloy wheels wrapped in 255/30 Pirelli rubber at the front and 315/25 at the back.

Finally, the tuner offers a several options for the interior including custom-order leather or Alcantara upholstery.

VIDEO: Ferrari California Power-Slides Into a Bulldozer in Bulgaria

Yep, it's another exotic supercar crash. Just a few days after the Bugatti Veyron lake incident, a new video featuring an overconfident, but apparently not so talented, driver in a Ferrari California has surfaced online. The video, which appears to have been filmed with a cell phone or a digital camera, shows two drivers, both in Ferrari Californias, fooling around on the city roads of Sofia, in Bulgaria.

At some point, one of the village idiots drivers overdid it with the power sliding gimmickry and ended up losing control of the 460HP California, crashing first into an oncoming car and then straight into a bulldozer...

In view of the fact that a pair of Ferrari Californias on the road together isn't what you'd call a common sight, we performed a quick search on the net and found a couple of videos showing the two cars in a hotel parking lot.

Judging from the Marlboro stickers on the Ferraris and the promotional models surrounding them, we gather that the Italian supercars must have been part of an event of some sort.

If you happen to know more details about this story, entertain us by leaving a comment after the break.
